Global Medical Training (GMT) is a humanitarian organization that travels to underserved villages to provide basic medical services under the supervision of Physicians. I have attended two trips with GMT, one to the Dominican Republic in March 2019 and one to Panama in December 2019, with chapters from other universities and had the most impactful experiences I have ever had. These trips sparked such a strong passion within me that I decided to bring the club to the UGA campus and start a chapter. I, along with two of my best friends, founded the UGA chapter of the Global Medical Training club in January 2020.

Originally, we had a trip planned to the Dominican Republic for May 2020, but the trip had to be pushed back due to COVID-19. We did not let this stop us from getting the club started and making an impact locally. We decided to put our efforts towards serving the underserved populations locally and partnered with Athens organizations to hold donation drives, service events, and fundraisers.
