This policy memo discusses issues surround transparency in hospital pricing and provides three policy options to improve it. I wrote this piece for my Environmental Health course during the Summer 2020 semester. To access the full policy memo, click here.
This piece showcases my ability to:
- Generate three possible policy options to address an issue
- Analyze the benefits and barriers to each option for each stakeholder in a nationwide issue
- Write for a legal audience
Writing this policy exposed me to the financial difficulties many Americans face when receiving medical care, especially in a hospital setting. Although I present potential solutions in the above memo, I realized that healthcare is simply not an option for many Americans. This policy inspired me to begin volunteering at Mercy Health Center as a medical assistant to give medical services to the uninsured.
