This literature review summarizes the risk factors contributing to the high rates of substance abuse and mental health issues in Native American populations. I wrote this piece for my Research Methods and Design course during the Spring 2020 semester. To access the full literature review, click here.
This piece showcases my ability to:
- Compile data on health topics from published research and synthesize conclusions to a research question
- Write papers for academic audience
- Communicate overarching themes between twenty academic articles
Writing this review allowed me to better understand the systemic inequities in out country and how they directly impact health outcomes of certain minority groups. It sparked a passion within me for improving the prevention and treatment options for low-income communities, and I plan to serve these communities as a PA and fight the issue from within.
